The Civil War at 150
During the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the Organization of American Historians is committed to bringing the best current thinking on this complex era to a wide audience.
The OAH Distinguished Lectureship Program
The OAH is proud to present a robust roster of OAH Distinguished Lecturers speaking on a wide range of topics, from “The American Revolution in Global Perspective,” “Abraham Lincoln as a Self-Made Man,” and “Well-behaved Women Seldom Make History” to “What Is Digital History?,” “Interpreting African American History in American Museums,” and “Making Thinking Visible in the History Classroom.”
The OAH/National Park Service Collaboration
For more than fifteen years, the OAH has collaborated with the National Park Service (NPS) on a variety of historical projects, including conducting original research, writing historiographical overviews, providing scholarly consultation, leading professional development seminars, and the creating teaching materials. Over forty collaborative projects are currently in process, and the OAH will soon enter another five-year commitment with the NPS.
The Japanese Residencies Program
In cooperation with the Japanese Association for American Studies, the OAH cosponsors residencies in Japanese universities for American scholars. The Japan Residencies program is now in its thirteenth year.
The Germany Residency Program
Thanks to a generous grant from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the OAH is pleased to announce the inauguration of the Residency Program in American History — Germany (Germany Residency Program) at the University of Tübingen. The resident scholar will offer a seminar on a U.S. history topic of his or her design to twenty-five advanced undergraduate and graduate students.
Talking History
Beginning in July 2001, the OAH became sponsor (and in 2002, producer) of the weekly radio show, Talking History. While the show is on hiatus, you can still listen now to some of the past episodes.
